2022 – May – July 2022

My solo show is finally happening for the month of June at the Springfield (OR) City Hall. This show was originally planned for June, 2020 and June, 2021. Artist reception will be the 2nd Friday (June 10th).
Here is my Artist Statement:
Moving toward the Expressive
I returned to my great passion, photography in 2018, after I attended an exhibit of infrared photographs (IR)* at the Maude Kerns Gallery.
Since 2018, I have been immersed into learning how to capture and post-process these IR images. After concentrating on the technical aspects, I am transitioning to find my unique voice, and move toward to bring in the emotion of the scene.
This pertains to both the black & white renderings, and currently the technique of eliciting color from these images to produce vibrant color photographs.
I am using Nikon D200s that have been converted to various infrared spectrum ranges.
* “Infrared photography is a look into the invisible world. The human eye can see wavelengths from about 400nm-700nm (from purple to red); infrared is the light beyond 700nm. IR photography can be done with either infrared film, or a digital camera, and typically involves near infrared light in the 700nm to 1200nm range.” – Ilija Melentijevic, Kolari Vision

Current Work in Progress – 2022

First attempt in post-processing a black and white infrared to ‘color’. I liked the pictures very much, but they just lacked much needed impact. The images were captured in Fern Lake, Oregon – 2020.
